The El Paso County Department of Social Services is delayed in processing Medicaid applications for long term care. This means that if a person has applied and meets the criteria for long term care Medicaid, they could have a waiting period of 6months to a year before they are assigned a case number and are considered a Medicaid recipient. If the person is already in a facility then that is not an issue for the resident. However, if the person is seeking long term care from a home setting or assisted living, that may cause quite a delay.
